With over 20 years of experience in natural health, Dr. Melanie Dunlap is an expert in holistic wellness, experience that proved invaluable when cancer touched her life as a survivor and caregiver. Diosa Vance<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Diosa is an award-winning Phoenix-based fusion dancer, performing in the Valley-area since 2001. She fuses eclectic, electro music with her Egyptian Cabaret roots, enchanting audiences with her colorful double veils in Egyptian Cabaret, her energetic style in “Bellywood”, her pop-and-locks in Belly Hop Fusion, and her theatrical, experimental pieces for unconventional-themed shows.<\/p>\n

She began her dance journey with Danah\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Arizona Belly Dance Troupe<\/i>\u00a0<\/span>and Ava Fleming\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Black Opal<\/i>, both based in Egyptian Cabaret. Branching out to other fusion troupes such as Melissa Billing\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Unity in Motion<\/i>\u00a0<\/span>and K-Lee\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Natium Tribal Dance<\/i>, Diosa discovered her niche. She placed runner-up in the Fusion Category at Bellydancer of the Universe in Long Beach of 2004. She trained with many master instructors throughout the years, such as Suhaila Salimpour, Amy Sigil, and Rachel Brice. As a local instructor, Diosa taught foundations, choreography, strength training, and aerobic fitness for the City of Surprise, Luke Air Force Base, Synergy Center, Gold\u2019s Gym, Naturally Women Fitness Centers and more. Her specialty workshops varied in and out of the city, including\u00a0<\/span>Beat the Heat<\/i>\u00a0<\/span>in Prescott, Alchemista\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Fusion Bellydance Mini Intensives<\/i>, Yasmina\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Fusion Day<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Swap Meet<\/i>, and\u00a0<\/span>Moonlight\u2019s Movie\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Show in Mesa. Currently, Diosa is the director and choreographer of\u00a0<\/span>The Desert Flowers<\/i>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>Osiris Dance.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>They perform at local festivals and fairs, as well as events such as Tucson\u2019s Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention and Phoenix Fan Fusion. Diosa continues to compete as a soloist or with her dance partner, Katara. Diosa was runner up for the Oriental Professional category for Belly Queen in 2016. Winning a 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0<\/span>place Tribal Fusion category at Wiggles of the West in Las Vegas back in 2010, Osiris Dance finally swept up both Top Troupe Oriental and Tribal Fusion Category Performances in 2020 from Amethyst Dance Festival.<\/p>\n

By day, Diosa is a Visual Arts teacher for 6-8th<\/sup>\u00a0<\/span>grades at a school in the West Valley, mother of two talented NAU graduates, wife to her loving husband of 24 years, and pet parent to a menagerie of animals. She\u2019s practiced Wicca since 1991, with affinities for Numerology, Chant-o-matics, magikal writing, amulets, and tarot reading. Her influence of the five elements can be seen in her paintings and drawings. Within the past decade, Diosa has fused her Buddhist and Pagan practices, discovering a wonderful blend of somatic exercises, such as visualization, meditation, and chanting.<\/p>\n

By night, Diosa teaches at her home studio where she holds troupe rehearsals, choreography crams, and drill classes. Her newest venture is taking on the role as Publisher of\u00a0<\/span>Shimmy Magazine,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>and she is always looking for contributors to extend their knowledge and experiences.<\/p>\n

As a teacher, performer, and lifelong-student, Diosa\u2019s mission is to nurture her love of dance with kindred spirits through energetic movement, audience connection, and innovative dance interpretation. Marie Howell <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Phoenix artist Marie Howell is a creator of sacred art, exploring both 2D and 3D media. Her work is the result of the Intentional Creativity process as taught by artist Shiloh Sophia McCloud. Marie\u2019s paintings and sculptures are \u201cdownloaded\u201d through deep connection and tuning in to her inner guidance. Each stage of her work is revealed in a step by step process as she listens within. She integrates traditional and non-traditional techniques and materials that express her original vision as she invites viewers into a personal encounter with her art that nurtures, transforms, and empowers. She is currently working primarily in acrylic painting and \u201cassemblage\u201d sculptural collage, adding the decorative element of embellishment and adornment to both.
